The Arts
Experience with the arts fosters discipline, creative thinking and concentration in young people, and it breeds appreciation for cultural pursuits that they might not otherwise develop. In times of tight budgets and increased academic demands in the classroom, it is more crucial than ever that enriching arts opportunities are provided to in-need urban students in the after-school period.

Visual and performing arts are an integral component of Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation’s (SASF) comprehensive after-school model. From impressionist painting workshops to string instrument ensembles to dance theater stage performances, SASF provides high-quality arts instruction in all of its Champions Club after-school programs. Most importantly, these programs provide students with the opportunity to perform and/or exhibit their work for family, friends and community members in season-ending culminating events.

Additionally, the Champions Club arts curriculum includes field trips to some of New York City's most renownd arts and cultural institutions, from the Metropolitan Museum of Art to Broadway theaters, where students are able to not only experience the joy of the arts, but also draw connections between their own artistic efforts and those of the masters.
